CCC welcomes new members to their 21th season
Dr. Hampton and the choir will began the second semester of the 2023-2024 season on January 6th, 2024. for new members and January 20 for returning members. New members are welcome to join all year long. If you're interested in joining just complete the Join Us form below.
CCC Better Together Concert
On March 25, 2023 CCC presented its "Better Together" concert. The performance included music from Porgy & Bess, along with songs with a message of peace and inclusion. The choir, along with featured soloists, Susan Plummer, Teniya Mackey and Jodette Adams treated the audience to songs with a theme of peace and inclusion. Rev. Vickie Johnson, Milas Armour, Gail James, Christopher Joyner, Brandon Ward and Warnell Berry blew the audience away with their soaring solos in the Porgy and Bess medley. CCC & the Illinois Philharmonic continue their collaboration
The Chicago Community Chorus appeared with the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra in two appearances in 2022, a concert version of Porgy and Bess and Handel's Messiah. So successful was the 2022 collaboration that they teamed up for 2023 Holiday Show which was presented December 9, 2023 at Trinity College in Palos Heights, IL. By all audience reports, the concert was a raving success.
CCC prepares for spring concert
CCC is putting the finishing touches on their upcoming spring concert which is right around the corner, April 20, 2024. This presentation features Robert Ray's Gospel Mass, as well as excerpts from Seven Joys by Caroline Shaw and Beethoven's 9th Symphony. Patrons are encouraged to get their tickets early as this promises to be a sell out event. Ticket information is available on the Event Page.
CCC completes first national tour
On July 14, 2023 the choir boarded a bus on their way to Minneapolis. MN where they sang at Plymouth Congregational church and performed in concert at Westwood Lutheran Church. While there Dr. Hampton presented a workshop where CCC was joined by several local choirs. The choir visited the George Floyd memorial where they performed a moving rendition of their signature song, Oh Lord Please Hear My Prayer.
